Rich began his career with Mutual of Omaha in 1984 as a sales representative, after serving in the United States Navy and attending Fremont High School and Midland Lutheran College. In 1989, he was promoted to District Sales Manager and in 1990 became Senior Training consultant. In 1991, Rich returned to his first love as a sales representative and in February, 2001 became affiliated with Heritage Financial Services and Securian Financial Services, Inc.

He is currently a Top of the Senate Qualifier, a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow, and a Qualifying and Life member of the Million Dollar Roundtable. He is a member of Lutheran Church of The Master and serves on the Advisory Council. He's a member of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and past President for NAIFA-NE, 2001-2002. Rich serves on the Presidents Council of Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, past board member of Nebraska Special Olympics and served in numerous capacities for NSALU and Cystic Fibrosis.

Rich and his wife Linda have three grown children; Paul, Darrin and Traci.
